FAQ/Product care
Discover the Superior Quality of Long-Lasting Artistic Creations.
- Due to the nature of the media used in my art, like alcohol inks and resin, these items need protection from direct sunlight and UV exposure, as well as high humidity and extreme temperature changes.
- To maintain the original colors and brightness of your art piece, avoid high heat (coasters, glasses with resin), sunlight (resin and ink), and humidity. Use a soft cloth to remove dust particles to keep it clean.
Resin Coasters:
- Solid resin coaster may occasionally develop cup/glassware marks, especially when in contact with hot items. In case of scratch marks or indentations on your coaster(s), simply rinse it with warm to hot water, letting it flow over the affected area for 20-30 seconds. The resin surface ought to regain its initial form.
- Grab a soft cloth or microfiber to give those coasters a good shine. Just be careful around the edges if they're rockin' the gold leaf look! Even though protective varnish was used, the gold may still become dull over time or scratched off if being damaged. Do not scrub the resin coasters, use mild soap and water, and a soft cloth if needed.
- Never under any circumstances should you ever use resin coasters for hot cookware! My epoxy resin can handle a hot cup without breaking a sweat, up to coffee temperature. Placing a scorching pan on the coaster may lead to its melting and the risk of fire.
Did you know that alcohol inks are not lightfast?
Lightfastness is a property of a dye or pigment that describes how resistant it is to fading when exposed to sunlight. Pigments and dyes that are not lightfast are considered fugitive, meaning the color fades to neutral on exposure to UV rays from sunlight.
Alcohol inks are dye-based and translucent by nature and therefore, if left unprotected in direct sunlight, will lose their lovely vibrancy over time and some will fade away completely. It is important to point out that fading occurs with many other mediums such as acrylics, oils and watercolors, as well – both pigment and dye-based. Because of the translucent nature of the ink, the fugitiveness of some alcohol ink colors is greater than others.
- To keep my art looking vibrant, I layer on UV protectant varnish and UV archival varnish. Just keep it out of direct sunlight!
Resin:
Have you ever heard the phrase "all resin yellows over time"? Similarly to inks, exposure to UV light is the most common reason for epoxy resin turning yellow. When UV light hits the cured epoxy resin, whether directly or indirectly, the natural process of degrading the polymers within is sped up.
- You can slow down resin discoloration by limiting the direct or indirect exposure to UV light.
Jewelry:
- Crafted from polymer clay, the jewelry boasts durability; however, it is recommended to store it in a petite box or container when not adorning to prevent any harm or risk of fracture.
- Certain pieces of jewelry are also coated with resin, hence it is imperative to adhere to the same guidance by avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Don't snooze or splash about with the bling, it could end up all wonky.
